Antwerp, eight weeks before the City Council elections of October 14, 2012. The battle between the progressive mayor Peter Van Laer and his conservative opponent Bert Coenen is in full swing when Lena, a 14-year-old girl, disappears. Marianne Smidt, a freshman with the local paper, starts investigating the case that has low priority status with the local police.  As Marianne digs deeper, Lena's disappearance becomes political ammunition in the election battle and even threatens to influence the results of that election.  But Marianne doesn't hold back till she finds the truth.
