By analogy with Deadline 14/10, about the disappearance of a young girl during the campaign for the Antwerp municipal elections of 2012, Deadline 25/5 is a thriller that plays against the background of the mother of all elections of May 25, 2014. A much-discussed and dramatic CO accident in a primary school is the deciding factor for the personal and professional life of journalist Marianne Smidt and the political ins and outs of Antwerp. And by extension, even the rest of the country.
Marianne Smidt now no longer works as a journalist, but her quiet life is shaken when Seppe and his classmates fall victim to a CO poisoning at school. An accident with dramatic consequences - three people die and two victims fall into a coma - and a lot of speculation about the cause. Everything points to a human error, but Marianne suspects that there is more to it. She picks up her job as a journalist at the local paper, because she believes in the principle that the truth must be told. Always and everywhere.
